Old 97's
Fight Songs
Elektra

Like Whiskeytown (reviewed later) Old 97's are a perfect hybrid of country and rock, but at the same time falls into neither genre. The 97's first album was a bit more reckless. This one has a more grown-up pop sound to it. But it still retains that "drunk at midnight" sound. If you want to try one CD that is accessible, but still has that No Depression, New Country sound, this is the place to start. Right now my favorite album of the genre.
