Two Horse Town - A compilation of darkhorse traditions country artists

I don't listen to much country music being produced today. Mostly I go for the old school or the names that I already know have produced solid work so the fact that darkHorse touts this as an all-star album is lost on me. In general the whole damn album is lost on me. It is not bad by any stretch of the imagination. Every one of the tracks I heard was solid country and yes, they were far more traditional than, say, Garth Brooks or that Achy-Breaky-too-much-mullety-motherfucker that inflicted his brand of pap on half of america several years ago, but still I just don't really care. The packaging I had offered no explanation as to who any of the artists were other than a name and a photo and I am not familiar with the label, so I don't get it. It is probably a great introduction to what darkHorse traditions has to offer, and I reckon the artists are all darkhorses, but no one stood out in style or tone. So for me, I'll just stick to the already classic country I can find on vinyl. Or the insurgent country/neo-traditionalists that have a strong individuality to their sound. There just wasn't much of that here.
