Uncle Tupelo
Anodyne
Sire

Uncle Tupelo were the fathers of the so called New Depression movement. Anodyne was the last gasp of what will probably be considered the most influential New Country band of the nineties. Over the course of four albums, Uncle Tupelo went from a Rust Never Sleeps Neil Young tribute band to writers of subtle yet powerful songs full of love, life and loss. Anodyne, recorded live in the studio with the addition of fiddle, mandolin and lap steel, runs the gamut from acoustic toe tappers like "Acuff-Rose" ("Name me a song that everybody knows/I bet you it belongs to Acuff-Rose") to the rockin' foot-stomper "We've Been Had." If you like your rock on the country side and Neil Youngish distortion does not scare you, this is the CD for you.
