Lila McCann
Something in the Air
Asylum Records
How do you spell fun? L-I-L-A. If you haven't taken a listen to this high school junior, you owe it to yourself to give her a try. Songs like "With You," "Crush," and "Something in the Air" made me have visions of throwing my arms out in a world-wide hug and dancing in circles - on the ceiling. If you're not in love, you'll wish you were after singing along with this second effort from Lila McCann.
Lila's voice has a maturity beyond her years. Close your eyes while you listen to "You're Gone," and you'll never imagine you're listening to a varsity football cheerleader. A bit of young cutesy comes out in "Rhymes With," but it's such a fun song that it fits.
Not only is this girl a great singer, but quite a writer too. Check out the song list on the album cover and note how many of the songs she co-wrote.
If you're looking for some feel-good music for your next road trip, stop off at the local music shop and pick this up. You might want to go ahead and grab her first album too, this is one artist whose CD's you'll want to collect.
