An interesting record for two reasons. First off, this is a swing record released so far behind the fad curve that it was irrelevant even before it was recorded. Second, the lead singer sounds so much like Tom Waits that I took a close look at the band photos to make sure Tom hadn't gone all retro on us. Like most well done swing albums, this is fun stuff. Nothing groundbreaking (of course groundbreaking swing music is kind of an oxymoron), but if you really liked the last Brian Setzer CD and can't wait for the new Cherry Poppin' Daddies release, then the Fireballs are the band for you. Coming to a cutout bin in your town soon.
