The Damnations TX
Half Moon Mad
Sire
Two sisters from Austin who make music in a kind of Texas hoe-down, Appalachian twang style. They remind me of a cool, good-old-gals version of the Indigo Girls. There is a raw feel to the songwriting, embellished with simple, sparse sounds - a bit of banjo here, some accordion there. This is a delightful album full of pleasures, surprises, and nice harmonies. Well worth searching out if you are interested in toe-tappers and ballads that are both adventurous and familiar.
