Liz Capra
Different Bodies, Different Places
Naked Noise
*** (of 5)
Liz Capra mostly manages to not fall into the cliched strummy/whiny/gaspy chick-singering that some people dig so much, but that bores me to tears. My favorite track is "Lose Your Sight," a Laura Love-esque song with hiccuped words and sung not words. Liz wrote all but one song on this album, and her songwriting abilities are well above average. I mean, really, How many songwriters do you know who can fit a word like "desensitization" into a song and not sound awkward?
Liz is a part of the Tour Baby 2001 tour, and will be near you soon if you're on the West Coast. Check out sixteenthnote.com for more about Tour Baby 2001.

Tour Baby 2001 promises to be a pile of acoustic music. The sampler CD I listened to is about 75% solid acoustic performances from artists selling music at cdbaby.com; the other 25% didn't impress me as much. The tour should be worth checking out. They're starting in Issaquah, WA and heading south to LA, so if you're anywhere near the West Coast, this show should be coming close to your home.
