Greg Brown
One Night
Red House Records
This is classic Greg Brown. The deep-voiced bard mumbles about every street in town, downtown, heart of my country and all the little places around the town. He also touches on canned goods without the cool-to-hear-the-first-time 12-minute monologue that sometimes gets in the way on "The Live One." But best of all, it's got plenty of the ultra-hot, previously unreleased songs and also plenty of new (old if you realize that this was recorded in 1982) versions of old favorites. If you're already a Greg Brown fan, buy it. If you aren't, but "The Poet Game" and then reassess your fanship. You'll probably end up getting this one soon after.
